ABOUT THE ZEN PROJECTS

Some words of clarification:

I was hesitating quite a while before adding this page. Wondering if I am not downsizing our efforts by asking donations for our Zen projects. For years, Mr. Dan Waxman and me are trying to introduce The Soto approach to Zen, Zen in Daily life, and the Zen teacher Prof. Masunaga Reiho teaching and heritage both in Israel and to the world.

We are private persons, currently not well established financially to support the costs of fulfilling those Zen projects, yet very determent to do so. The books of Prof. Masunaga Reiho, Dogen teaching and my Zen teacher Dan Waxman writing are spiritual treasures that can give hope and guidance to many people around the world. There is a proverb that say: "it is better to give someone a fishing rod and teach her or him how to fish then give her or him fishes". Those books are the fishing rods and fishing hooks for people to become independent, creative more humane and happy.

As I summed up our chances to fulfilling those Zen projects without additional financial support, I realized it might take many years until those projects will be done honorably.

I wish we where in another position in which in addition to our Zen actions we could also donate generously to other important issues and projects. But to my sorrow, currently this is not the case. So what to do, I asked my self. Shut my mouse and keyboard and count only on our private means to make this projects come true or call for some help in terms of donations.

I have decided finely to overcome my doubts and ask for help from those who have interest in our Zen projects and in our efforts to introduce the teaching of the Soto Zen and the Zen teaching of Dogen Zenji, and Prof. Masunaga Reiho in particular.

Our currents Zen projects are:

First phase:

Second phase:

One more project that seems like a dream right now is to be able to establish a place that will include Zendo and Dojo for MA training. In my vision this place will have sleeping facilities in it so that people from far away would be able to come and train there for a reasonable time.

Each of those mentioned projects (phase 1 and 2) can cost around 4000-7000$, not including our own time and efforts, and the operational costs of our Zen activities.

Now it is time to thank those that have supported our Zen activities and projects so far.

Up to this day 9/12/2000 we received donations that sum up to a total of around 1000$ (If we optimistically include the Fond tribute).

Information about how to communicate with us can be found in the 'Zen in Israel' page.
Best regards
